Mixing

Mixing with Cavitron Machines

The materials to be mixed can consist of solids, liquids, or mixed phases and are fed into the machine in different ways.

In the rotor-stator system, the heart of every Cavitron machine, materials are forced through the narrow gap between the rotor and stator. This gap can be finely adjusted to achieve the desired particle size. The high rotational speed of the rotor generates strong shear forces that crush the particles in the mixture. These forces ensure that even tough and viscous materials can be mixed.

In addition to shear forces, the rapid rotation of the rotor generates centrifugal forces and turbulence, further crushing particles and ensuring uniform mixing.

Some key advantages of Cavitron machines in industrial mixing and fine mixing include:

Production of Fine Particle Sizes:
Cavitron machines can reduce particles to very small sizes (often in the submicron range), crucial for industrial applications such as food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.

High Homogeneity:
The resulting mixtures have great homogeneity, guaranteeing reliable product quality. A significant factor in the production of pastes, emulsions and suspensions.

Improved Stability:
The uniform distribution and fine particle size helps to increase the stability of the mixture, thereby improving the consistency of the final product and extending its shelf life.

Efficient Processing:
Cavitron machines enable rapid and effective processing of large quantities, reducing production time and increasing efficiency. They can operate continuously or in batch mode.

Reduction of Additives:
Efficient homogenization and crushing can lead to a reduction in the need for emulsifiers, stabilizers and other additives, resulting in improved product quality and cost savings.

Versatility:
Cavitron machines are sufficiently versatile to be used for many types of mixtures and substances, such as highly viscous and heat-sensitive materials.

Scalability:
Cavitron machines are available in various sizes and designs, allowing easy scaling up from laboratory to industrial formats.

Robustness and Durability:
Many colloid mills are robustly constructed and require relatively little maintenance, reducing operating costs and increasing the reliability of production processes.
